LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers have shuffled their starting rotation coming out of the All-Star break so hot-hand Hiroki Kuroda will pitch the first game back and Derek Lowe will avoid pitching in Coors Field, his personal house of horrors.

Kuroda, who threw a one-hitter in his Monday start against Atlanta and pitches Saturday against the Marlins, will open the three-game series in Arizona on Friday, followed by Chad Billingsley and then Lowe. Kuroda and Billingsley will be pitching on five days' rest, but Lowe will be pitching on 10 days' rest.

The Dodgers continue their trip to Colorado, where Chan Ho Park, Eric Stults and Kuroda will pitch and Lowe won't.

"That's just the way we lined them up," said manager Joe Torre.

Lowe is 0-1 at Coors Field this year, allowing five runs in five innings in a loss that snapped the Dodgers' season-high eight-game win streak and included an exhausting 43-pitch first inning. After that game, Lowe said he projected the Dodgers' rotation through July and was confident he would not be pitching against the Rockies on this trip.

"It just seems like I've pitched poorly here every which way I possibly could," Lowe said after the May 4 loss in Colorado.

Since joining the Dodgers, Lowe is 1-4 with a 7.43 ERA pitching in Denver and 0-3 with a 10.95 ERA in his last three starts there.

Kuroda lost his only start in Arizona this year, allowing two earned runs in 5 2/3 innings.

"I haven't thought deeply about getting the start, but it's an important game, that's for sure," said Kuroda. "If I pitch well it can be a spark for the team for the second half."

Billingsley is 0-2 with a 9.72 ERA against the Diamondbacks this year. Lowe allowed one run in five innings of his only start against the Diamondbacks this year in Los Angeles.

Torre said Park had an upset stomach Thursday night, when he had his worst start of the season against Florida.

The Dodgers aren't sure when Brad Penny will return to the rotation. Doctors have agreed that Penny will remain shut down until next week, when he will resume playing catch and slowly rebuild arm strength. He is expected to need a Minor League assignment before he can return from bursitis and tendinitis in his right shoulder.

Meanwhile, Jason Schmidt threw a bullpen session Friday and will continue his rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas in a few days.
